Blaze King:

Since 1977 Blaze King has focused on one simple idea: design super-efficient, eco-friendly hearth products and build them to last. Their wood stoves provide both extremely long burn times and phenomenal heat output. As for fuel consumption, all Blaze King stoves burn up to a third LESS wood than their competitors. This means you spend less time, money, and effort cutting, hauling, chopping, stacking, drying, and loading wood for your stove. As the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Clean Air Act continues to evolve, Blaze King has committed to leading the industry in developing pollution-reducing hearth appliances. All Blaze King stoves generate minimal pollutants and not only meet, but far exceed the EPA’s emission requirements. In 1984, Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality awarded their very first Wood Stove Certification to Blaze King. By 1992, their catalytic wood stoves led the industry in low emissions, high efficiencies, and long burn times. In 1992, we expanded our line of hearth products to include gas stoves and fireplace inserts. Wood or Gas, we back our whole line up of hearth products with the most comprehensive warranty in the business. With a dealer network that stretches to all corners of North America, that warranty is matched with friendly service and knowledgeable expertise right close to home.

Q. How do Blaze King wood stoves differ from other wood stoves?

A. Blaze King models feature a bimetal coil thermostat This simple thermostat evens out the uneven nature of burning wood. Blaze King owners typically only adjust their thermostats once or twice and day. Nearly all other wood stoves have a damper to regulate air-flow and require more frequent adjusting.

Q. How many square feet will a specific model heat?

A. Truthfully, that can only be best done if the entire floor plan of the home, insulation value and needs are all considered. It is always best to speak with a dealer, tell them about your home, life style and describe what your goals are for heating with wood..

Q. How do catalytic wood stoves work?

A. A substrate material such as cordierite, is plated with two or more precious metals. During the combustion process, the gases that are released result in friction between the plating materials, which can create extremely high temperatures. Since smoke and other gases are load with energy, the catalyst coverts these into usable heat fro your home.

Q. Do catalysts need replacing?

A. Yes. After a number of years, catalysts can slowly lose their efficiencies. It is common to get up to 12 years and more service from a catalyst. Burning well-seasoned dry cordwood only will help prolong the catalyst life.

Q. Are Blaze King wood stoves mobile home approved?

A. Yes, all Blaze King wood stoves are mobile home approved. Of course this requires that side shields, rear shield or fans, fresh air kit and double wall stove pipe are used in the installation. Unfortunately, Blaze King wood inserts are not mobile home approved, as there is no design for a fresh air intake for these models.

Q. How do I clean the glass on my Blaze King appliance?

A. Over time, deposits can form on the glass of any gas appliance. These deposits are the result of combustion and should be removed from the glass by using an approved glass cleaner. Do not use household glass cleaner as the residue from the ingredients can ruin your glass. There are several suitable products on the market and are available through professional hearth products retailers.

Q. How often should I clean my Blaze King chimney?

A. Blaze King recommends that you have your chimney cleaned and or inspected at least once every 2 months during the heating season.

Q. Can Blaze King gas appliances burn propane?

A. Definitely and efficiently. Dealers can perform a simple conversion at the time of installation so that your Blaze King can use propane gas. Propane gas is packed full of energy and is an excellent, safe way to heat your home.

Q. How long does a Blaze King wood stove last?

A. The King can burn for 40+ hours on low or produce a tremendous amount of heat for 12 to 16 hours, depending on your installation and wood type.
