Gas stove questions (5)
Do I need a chimney for a gas stove?
Usually not. Direct vent gas stoves and fireplaces vent through an exterior wall or the roof with a sealed pipe. Gas inserts go into an existing fireplace and vent up the chimney with a liner.
Should I choose natural gas or propane?
Go with the fuel you have at your home. Most of the gas stoves we carry come in natural gas and propane versions, so tell us which you use and we’ll match the right model.
Will a gas stove work when the power goes out?
Some will. Models with a standing pilot or millivolt controls can keep running without electricity, though blowers won’t run. Ask us which models do.
What size gas stove do I need?
It depends on the space, the layout and how well the home holds heat. Bring your room measurements to the showroom or call us, and we’ll help you size it.
What’s the difference between a gas insert and a gas stove?
An insert fits into an existing wood fireplace and turns it into efficient gas heat. A freestanding gas stove sits on its own and can go almost anywhere you can run a vent.
